Holes
2017, pen on paper, found frame
Holes is a series of drawings in used picture frames collected from local second hand stores. The drawings are done in various black materials including pencils, pens, charcoal, oil stick, crayons, pastels, or coloured pencils. From a dot at the assumed centre, the drawing grows outwards, with a repetitive circular action until it fills the entire space. The opaque solid black drawings overlapped with the transparent glass of the frame become a permeable space, reflecting and interacting with the surroundings. One should choose to look at the drawing, the reflection of oneself, or both in between.
All drawings look alike from a distance but are distinct from one another in a closer look because of the different shades and texture of each black material.
There are 43 drawings in this series.
